Love Letters

I found this on my kitchen chalkboard yesterday.  There it was, right next to the list of groceries that I had forgotten at the store.  In amongst the saved box-tops for school and the phone messages.  It made my day.  Completely made my day.

I started to look around at all the notes we leave for each other.  They are everywhere.  My desk is covered in scraps like this.

I love chalkboards.  I have one in almost every room of the house.  I think they are beautiful and they open the door to writing notes–but without any real commitment.  You can just write something on a whim and change it the next day.  Perfect.

We have a huge chalkboard in Asa and Finley’s room. It came from a school and even though it takes up a lot of real estate in a small room I just can’t bring myself to take it down.  I love the possibilities it presents.

Even little Atticus gets in on the action.

Visitors also leave notes on our chalkboards.  I can’t bring myself to erase this one.

Finley is our color man and prefers markers.  Our house is literally strewn with his artwork.  I think this may be “the force” on my head.

Asa has a secret spy kit with a note writing toy.  He writes super tiny notes and then shoots them at people.  Interesting.  I know.  I save his little notes from being vacuumed up whenever I find them.

How could I ever ask for more?  THIS is the kind of house I want to live in.  The kind of messy house that it brimming with love letters and colorful drawings.  The kind of house where you almost kill yourself tripping over a toy tractor or a light saber but get shot with a note that says I love you.  I don’t ever want this to change.  It’s my kind of house.
