Stuff I Love | Farms

Most people find peace by the water.  The ocean definitely has a soothing quality and certainly I love the calming effect of a lake.  But for me, farms have always been the most peaceful place.  There is something so soothing about being around barnyard animals.  There is a wonderful work ethic on a farm but not a frenzied rush as in our normal lives.  I like that.  There is order, and rhythm, and stillness.

This fall I have been spending lots of time with my youngest son while the older boys are in school.  It has been such a joy to be with him all alone, especially knowing that he is about to be bumped from the “baby” position.  He is at the wonderful age of two and a half.  Life is starting to make sense and he is able to express himself now in so many ways.  He makes me laugh so often.  He is obsessed with tractors, far more than our other two.  I don’t know where it comes from and how they’re just born with this love of machines but it’s in him.

Atticus and I have been visiting farms this fall.   Him to see tractors and I to find peace for myself.

Kate, I love this blog and the pics! I think Atticus (love the name) and Tanner would get along so well! Tanner is all about tractors and bulldozers and trucks! We live on 9 acres and have a small blueberry farm and two pigs so he gets a chance to go outside and explore everyday. It is one of the great joys of life to be a mom and to watch your child or children grow and learn everyday! Take care and thanks for sharing the pictures with us!

Love these! Especially the one where he is looking at the horse whose head looks as big as him, and the cow one. and the boots. Love you too.
