There’s something incredibly special about photographing a family in those first quiet days at home with a newborn. Life feels slower, softer, and more tender. As a lifestyle newborn and family photographer in New Hampshire, I’m drawn to sessions that feel unhurried, honest, and deeply personal. And as a mom of four, I know just how quickly these sleep-deprived days pass. It’s truly an honor to be invited into this season and to document moments that will never look quite the same again.

In home newborn sessions allow families to stay present and focus on the connection with their little one. I use natural light and love to highlight the details both of the baby and your life with them at this time.

With minimal posing and my documentary approach, I focus on the connection between the baby and parents (and dogs and siblings!).

The best time for newborn sessions is within the first 10 days of the baby’s birth. It is truly amazing how quickly they change and lose that sleepy squishy newborn look.

My hybrid approach includes both film and digital to get soft dreamy portraits.

If you are expecting and looking for a calm, documentary approach to newborn photography in New Hampshire or throughout New England, I’d love to connect. Newborn sessions are typically booked during the second trimester to ensure availability. Reach out to me at kate@preftakesphoto.com for more information. I can’t wait to work with you!
