Fall mini sessions have become one of those traditions I look forward to every year. I get to see so many familiar families, catch up with kids who somehow seem to have grown a foot since I last saw them, and meet new families who often end up coming back year after year.
And there really is no better backdrop than fall in New England. The tall grasses, changing leaves, rocky coastline, old stone walls, and that beautiful fall light are all things I never get tired of photographing.
This year I’ve chosen three of my favorite locations, each with a completely different feel: Odiorne State Park on the New Hampshire coast, the beautiful Arnold Arboretum in Boston, and Lamson Farm right here in Mont Vernon, NH.
Whether this is your first session with me or something your family does every fall, my goal is always the same: to keep things easy, let your kids be themselves, and give you beautiful photographs that feel like your family right now.
Here are all the details for this year’s sessions…
Odiorne State Park | Rye, New Hampshire | Sunday, September 13

One of my favorite coastal locations, Odiorne has such a beautiful mix of scenery. Rocky shoreline, tall grasses, winding paths, and ocean views give us lots of variety without having to go very far.
September is especially beautiful here. It still has that relaxed feeling of summer along the coast, but the light is getting softer and the grasses are beginning to take on their fall color.
If you love the ocean and want family photographs that feel relaxed, natural, and a little less traditionally “fall,” Odiorne is a beautiful choice.

Arnold Arboretum | Boston, Massachusetts | Saturday, September 26

For my Boston-area families, I’ll be back at the beautiful Arnold Arboretum this year.
The Arboretum has such a timeless New England feel, with its historic trees, winding paths, open spaces, and the beginning of beautiful fall color. It’s also a wonderful location for children because there’s room to walk, explore, and move—which always makes for more natural photographs.
If you’re looking for a classic fall setting that’s convenient to Boston, this would be my pick.

Lamson Farm | Mont Vernon, New Hampshire | Sunday, October 4

Lamson Farm is classic New Hampshire in October and one of my favorite places to photograph close to home.
There are rolling fields, old stone walls, weathered barn doors, and beautiful autumn color, but what I especially love is all the room it gives kids to move around and be themselves. You can even bring your pups to this location!
If you’re dreaming of those quintessential New England fall family photographs, this is the session I’d choose.

What’s Included in a Fall Mini Session?
Each mini session is fun and relaxed, with plenty of time to get a variety of shots. We will get a variety of groupings including the whole family, each child alone, kids together etc. I always try and get the whole family first and then let the kids play so we can get lots of candids. I have a very relaxed approach. You do not need to know how to pose and I will offer gently guidance so everyone looks their best! Once the session is done you will receive a link to an online gallery where you can view all the final edited photos. You will have the opportunity to select your image for your 5×7″ print and also order any additional prints or products including digital files.

I can’t wait to see you this fall!
xx Kate
