Another New Year

To paraphrase one of the truest quotes I’ve heard; there have been many long days, but the years have flown.

I look at these little faces and am reminded of the simplicity of life.  It is a painful reminder that time stops for nobody.   We are all subject to the wheels of time and, no matter how much we try to hold onto moments, they still slip through our fingers.  I rarely make New Year’s Resolutions because they are always the same.  Eternally searching for the perfect balance between living in the moment, progressing forward, and preserving moments.  It is no small task, especially when you are a busy working mom. But these four radiant souls keep me grounded. They are a constant source of love and laughter.  They are silly, and messy, and energetic, and inquisitive and so incredibly full of life!  We couldn’t be more proud of them.

When Bea was just a little over a month old, right after our first New Year’s with all four kids, I laid them down on my bed and took their picture.  At the time it was just meant to be a portrait of the four kids together but then, amazingly, I remembered to do it again the following year. I loved seeing the changes in their sweet little faces and the beautiful simplicity of these portraits.  I now look forward to documenting them together each new year. Well, for as long as they’ll allow me to.

How did it get so late so soon?

It’s night before it’s afternoon.

December is here before it’s June.

My goodness how the time has flewn.

How did it get so late so soon?
